What Is A Remix

Monday, March 24th, 2014

This video gives you several examples of what types of remixes are there in the media. This video contains remixes of a guy dancing to songs, a man who lip syncs to a song, a scene from the movie, “Back to the Future,” with a different soundtrack then the movies own soundtrack, and many more types of remixes. However, I was surprised at the end of this video the makers of this video stated that, “These videos all made unauthorized use of copyrighted material.” Also at the end of this video it is said that the video was made by people from the American University in the Center for Social Media. I think copyright laws are laws where you cannot take footage from a show or movie without the people who made the movie’s permission. I thought that this video was really good exampling how each remix is different.

30 Day Challenge Update Part 2

Monday, March 24th, 2014

Since the last post I put out about my 30 day challenge I have been watching more sitcom shows and started watching Sci-Fi television shows.  One of the things about watching the pilot episode for a Sci-Fi series is that the pilot episode is over one hour long, and you need to take time out of your day to work on it.  However, even though these episodes are long they are really fantastic episodes.  Also since this last update post I think I have gotten better at critiquing the shows, because I talk about the show’s mise-en-scene, cinematography, and the screenwriting.

30 Day Challenge Update

Saturday, March 15th, 2014

At the beginning of my challenge I was having a little trouble finding a way to upload my video critiques of the shows I watched onto the internet. However, I was able to use Movie Maker to record myself and do some fun editing on my video critiques. At first I thought that I was not doing a good job critiquing the shows, but I believe I am getting better at critiquing the shows I have been watching.

What Is Data Visualization and Inforgraphic

Wednesday, March 5th, 2014

Data Visualization

Data Visualization is the study of visual representation of data, meaning “information that has been abstracted in some schematic form, including attributes or variables for the units of information.” The main goal of data visualization is to communicate information clearly and effectively through graphical means. To convey ideas effectively, both aesthetic form and functionality need to go hand in hand, providing insights into a rather sparse and complex data set by communicating its key-aspects in a more intuitive way.

Data Visualization 2

Data visualization is the presentation of data in a pictorial or graphical format. It is communicated by collecting and analyzing data. Decision makers at all levels welcome data visualization software that enables them to see analytical results presented visually, find relevance among the millions of variables, communicate concepts and hypotheses to others, and even predict the future.

Infographics

Infographics are graphic visual representations of information, data or knowledge. These graphics present complex information quickly and clearly, such as in signs, maps, journalism, technical writing, and education. Today information graphics surround us in the media, in published works both pedestrian and scientific, in road sign and manuals. In newspapers, infographics are commonly used to show the weather, as well as maps and site plans for newsworthy events, and graphs for statistical data.

My 30 Day Challenge

Tuesday, February 25th, 2014

On the first day of March I will be watching a T.V. show that I have never seen every day of March and do a video log critique about the show that I just watched.  I am going to use my hand-held camera to record me and talk about the show, and then I will edit the video.  I will post my videos on YouTube.  Hope you enjoy.

My Stop Bullying Video

Thursday, February 20th, 2014

When I was a senior in High School my school asked all the different classes to create a visual presentation to stop bullying. Whether it was a written visual presentation, a Power-point, or a video. Like this video:

While me and my class were working on our video project my brother’s class, which he was a junior, were doing their own video project. However, my brother’s class did not know how to edit their video so my brother and his classmates came to me and asked me to edit their video they made, which I happily agreed to do it. It took me a couple of days to finish my brother’s class video, and when I showed the video to my brother’s class they loved what I did with their video. They really compliment me for the music I used in their video, which I got the music from an iTune song list that my boss from the local T.V. station that I interned at gave me. Here is the video I made for my brother’s class:

When the video was presented in front of the whole school there were a lot of laughs and applauds. I thought this video was the funniest video I have made yet and hope to work on a video or film like this in the future.

These three links coming up are images of kids being bullied, and I think these images are the most pictures I have seen.

This next image is my school’s mascot, which we were Bevier C-4 Wildcats.
